Darokhan family has been in the hospitality business, which has evolved over our experience of sixty years, even before the independence of India, thanks to the generosity of the authors this etiquette has been recognized and appreciated and has been illustrated by Marco A.Pallis in his book Peaks and Lamas 1934

Before 1974, when Leh was a restricted destination for common tourists, Ramzan-ud-Din Darokhan founded the very famous Himalaya restaurant in Leh Main Bazar which was very popular amongst the Ladakhi. On demolition and reconstruction of the restaurant building, the restaurant was shifted to Darokhan Bagh and converted into a catering service by the name of “Himalaya Catering Leh” which still exists and is very popular in Leh.
